Is it just me, or did it feel (pre-Covid-19) that really getting away required a faraway destination and a flight usually no shorter than 4 hours? While escaping to a remote island or different country is no doubt exciting, there are so many incredible places to experience right here in the U.S. – many just a car ride away. Over the next several weeks, I will be highlighting the best domestic destinations here in a new series: Easy Escapes.

First up: Aman’s Amangiri, located in Canyon Point, Utah. This resort is a remote, isolated sanctuary of 600 acres, sitting just above the Utah-Arizona border in the Grand Circle region and next to some of our country’s most breathtaking scenery like vast canyons, Lake Powell, and national parks.

Experience bespoke activities like hiking, climbing, exploring the plateau on horseback, and kayaking on Lake Powell. Guests of Amangiri enjoy privileged back-yard access to nature’s most magnificent nearby attractions. After a day of adventure, opt for some R + R in the spa or relax by the pool.

Amangiri is a destination in itself, and the only reason you’ll need to leave the resort property is to explore its vast surroundings. Culinary options abound at the resort for breakfsat, lunch and dinner – between the main dining room, a fireside pavilion and the desert lounge. For bespoke dining experiences, enjoy a private setting over canapes and champagne on the sunset trail, or dinner on the rocks and under the stars.

The resort is getting an exciting update this summer with the opening of Camp Sarika, a collection of 10 canvas-topped pavillions located a hike or short drive from the main resort. But don’t think you’ll be roughing it… each tent has its own private plunge pool, and guests will have access to a restaurant, main pool and lounge and a pair of spa suites, plus the ability to enjoy dining options, amenities and activities at Amangiri. You’ll feel secluded and peaceful in this new tented retreat, set to combine solitude, wellness and meditation with adventure.

Amangiri will re-open May 21, 2020, and in response to Covid-19, it is making safety, health and well-being a top priority for its guests and employees.
