WHAT WE’RE SIPPIN’ ON: THE HUGO SPRITZ

Happy Friday! Seems like this was an extra-long week, and I am thankful to finally have the weekend in sight. I’m also really excited because today I filmed my first installment of The Hollyday Happy Hour. While sharing cocktail recipes ain’t no new thing on here (I can’t cook but I do make an effort to mix up a decent beverage and I love to take cues from the pros – see here, here, here and especially here, I have launched a new video series wherein you get the delighted pleasure of watching me mix up the cocktail-0f-the-week while I pretty much talk to myself.

Today, it was on Instagram Stories (catch it before it disappears!), and next week – who knows? I’ll be trying out different channels – Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Twitter Video (which is apparently now a thing?!) and so on.

I recently learned this deliciously refreshing cocktail recipe from my friend Marie (follow her on Instagram here for tons of good recommendations!), who got it from our other friend Cassie (word!), who recently went to Italy and I’m pretty sure had one of these bubbly European beverages in her hand morning, noon and night. But I certainly don’t blame her (as I’ve said before this is a judgment-free zone), because they’re incredibly light, tremendously tasty and so thirst-quenching that this just become your new summer drink, replacing (GASP!!!!!!)….. ROSÉ.
Yeah, I said it.

So without further ado, here is the very simple and easy recipe for the Hugo Spritz:

INGREDIENTS

Ice
Prosecco
St. Germain (Elderflower liqueur)
Soda water (or sparkling)
Mint
Optional:
Lime, lemon or Lavender to garnish.

DIRECTIONS

Add several sprigs of mint to a large wine glass, and muddle
Add a handful of ice cubes
Then pour 1 part St. Germain, two parts Prosecco
Top with a splash of soda water
Garnish with mint leaves and other optional additions like lemon, lime or lavender.

Sip and enjoy!
