Hilton Head Island, SC

It’s always fun reading through Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards every year, discovering new places to visit and getting excited to find that places you’ve been made the list.

If you’re not familiar with the awards, the magazine invites readers to participate in an survey that remains open for several months, in which participants rate different destinations, hotels and other travel-related companies. The results are published every year in conjunction with their August issue. This year, I found several of my favorites (places I’ve been & written about) plus found some new spots to add to my growing list of destinations I’m dying to visit.

Shout out to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for winning the #2 spot of the World’s Top 10 Islands, and for taking the #1 spot (!!!) of the Top 10 Islands in the Continental U.S.!

Also, The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, which I just recommended as a place to stay in my Hilton Head Destination Guide, made the list of Top 100 Hotels in the World at #91.

One of my favorite hotel companies, Auberge Resorts (it should be one of yours, too), made the same list at #97 with it’s iconic Rutherford, California resort, Auberge du Soleil, that you probably already have pinned to your Pinterest travel board.

And East Tennessee’s own Blackberry Farm in Walland, Tennessee took the #41 spot of the Top 100 Hotels in the World.
