HOTEL REPORT: MANDARIN ORIENTAL MILAN

By 12.13.18. No Comments
Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Milan, Italy | The Hollyday

During my recent visit to Italy, I had the opportunity to stay at the Mandarin Oriental Milan. Full disclosure – while I have always been familiar with the Mandarin Oriental hotel brand, and I have walked through a few of their locations, this was the first time I’ve actually stayed in any Mandarin hotel, and I loved the MO Milan. There’s something about it’s style that fits the city so well. Located in the center of the fashion district, the hotel is just steps away from the city’s best shopping, the lively Brera arts district, the historic Teatro Alla Scala (La Scala Opera House), the Duomo, and more – the location is perfect no matter the purpose of your stay. The hotel decor is chic and contemporary, true to the MO brand and fitting in perfectly in such a fashionable city.

I stayed in a deluxe room, which is their entry-level room category, but it actually felt much more like a small suite. I loved the chic, high back banquette and desk, which made the perfect little work area. The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get out of it in the mornings, and don’t get me started on the bathtub, complete with a little stand of bath salts and bath oils for a nice soak at night after a long day of walking around. The hotel offers lots of different room options including suites and connecting rooms, perfect for families or groups of friends. And while there is a chic, contemporary feel throughout the hotel, the suites offer different styles for different preferences – from the super colorful and contemporary Fornasetti Suite (dedicated to the late Milanese artist Piero Fornasetti with original pieces of his artwork) to the more traditional Presidential Suite.

The hotel has two dining options – a two-starred Michelin Italian restaurant, Seta (which I highly recommend), for fine-dining, and a more casual option, the Mandarin Bar and Bistrot, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails. Both are excellent! I suggest making reservations for Seta well in advance, as it’s very popular with both visitors and locals.

The spa’s indoor swimming pool and relaxing lounge area.

After a day exploring the city, come back and take advantage of the hotel’s wellness facilities, including a luxury spa, fitness center, a beautiful indoor swimming pool, and a beauty studio.
