Summer is almost here, which means, if you’re anything like us here at The Hollyday, you are probably planning out as much travel as you can possibly swing in a given season without going broke and/or getting fired. Finding an event you’d like to attend to out of town gives you a good excuse to get away, and makes the planning part super easy because you’ll already have something to do when you get there.
We’re making it even easier for you by once again rounding up this season’s events worth traveling for below.
You’re welcome. See you there.
May 5-7 / Randall’s Island Park, NYC
This event starts tomorrow, so if you want to go I hope that you’re either already in New York or you’re very spontaneous. Nonetheless, it’s worth mentioning. Frieze New York is a modern and contemporary art fair held in Manhattan on Randall’s Island Park overlooking the East River. This year the festival has partnered with Americans for the Arts Action fund to benefit the National Endowment for the Arts. Read more about the event and purchase tickets here.
May 18-20 / NYC
How we’re just now finding out about this event is beyond me. La Nuit en Rosé is a food and wine festival dedicated to – you guessed it, the drink that’s in your glass all summer long. The festival is held on a yacht on the Hudson at Pier 40, a perfect place to watch the sun set over the river. It kicks off on Thursday evening and lasts until Saturday night, so you can literally rosé all day. Oh, and rosé pink attire is encouraged. Cheers.
May 27-29 / Napa, CA
If I were going to attend one festival this summer, it’d be this one. First of all, it’s located in Napa Valley. I’d probably go to anything that’s held in Napa Valley, because why not. Second, there’s literally something for everyone. There is wine, obviously, because it’s in Napa. There is great music. I’m talking Maroon 5, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Macklemore, Modest Mouse, Fitz & the Tantrums, Foo Fighters, The Roots and tons more. I mean what band or artist wouldn’t want to play at a wine festival in Napa Valley? Then as if that wasn’t enough, there will be food. Lot’s of food. Enjoy tastings from some of the region’s best chefs, and famous chef personalities from across the country will be taking the culinary stage. Great food, legendary music, ever-flowing booze, all smack dab in the middle of Napa Valley. It’s everything a festival should be.
June 3, 2017 / Liberty State Park, NJ
I’ll just go ahead and put this out there. If you’ve read our other posts on upcoming events worth traveling for (we publish one each quarter to keep you informed at all times!), then you know we’ve recommended Veuve events before. (They host several throughout the year in various locations.) And we’re going to continue to recommend them, mainly because we know they’re fun (I’ve been to one), they’re worth the trip and they continue to get better every year. So before you roll your eyes over seeing us plug this event on repeat, hear us out. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the polo classic, and it’s going to be one for the books. In addition to the usual (getting dressed up to the nines, watching lots of polo, gourmet picnicking, day-drinking delectable champagne, and mingling with the who’s who), this year will be quite the celebration. Neil Patrick Harris is hosting, Alicia Keys is performing, and guests can now also enjoy the new Clicquot Riche and Riche Rosé. Get your tickets here.
