The Butcher’s Daughter in the West Village has become one of my favorite spots for a weekday breakfast or lunch. (There is also a location in Nolita and one in Venice Beach, California, which I wrote about in the L.A. City Guide.) The menu is plant-based and 100% vegetarian at this self-proclaimed “vegetable slaughterhouse,” with many items being vegan and gluten-free as well. They also have a great selection of smoothies and juices. It’s the perfect spot for a healthy meal to start the day, though lunch, brunch and dinner are great, too! The vibe is casual, and they don’t accept reservations, just FYI!
